Introduction

In an era dominated by digital and AI-driven advancements, Letterpress International reflects the enduring relevance of traditional craftsmanship. The 2025 inaugural event celebrates the art of letterpress printing and showcases how artists and studios around the world are giving new life to this centuries-old technique.
Through an exhibition, night markets, workshops and conversations, the extensive programme offers insight into the ways in which contemporary creators are redefining the historical practice of letterpress printing with modern aesthetics, innovative design and bold creative vision.
Letterpress remains an evolving creative medium. The Types Relive exhibition highlights this evolution with works that push the boundaries of movable type and typographic arrangement. The Letterpress and Print Night Market offers a platform for studios to connect with the public and showcase their prints, zines and unique print art creations. Featured workshops and conversations bring together enthusiasts, collectors and practitioners to exchange ideas and foster a deeper appreciation for this heritage craft.
Letterpress International 2025 demonstrates the resilience of analogue artistry in a digital age. It reminds us that in a world increasingly driven by technology, there is still profound value in the tactile and the handmade. By bringing together artists, studios and audiences, this festival aims to both honour the past and inspire the future of letterpress printing.

Types Relive
Types Relive: A Contemporary Letterpress Art Prints Exhibition
Types Relive
Types Relive

The Types Relive exhibition explores the evolution of letterpress printing from a utilitarian craft to a contemporary art form – bringing together works by artists who demonstrate dedication to typographic arrangement and letterpress techniques and blend traditional craftsmanship with bold, modern aesthetics.
Letterpress is an adaptable medium that is rooted in physicality and precision, and that continues to inspire new creative possibilities. In Types Relive, movable type is elevated beyond its historical, utilitarian role to become a tool for experimentation and innovation. Displayed alongside works printed entirely with movable type are works that incorporate complementary techniques such as calligraphy, screen printing and linocut – each work exploring new dimensions of expression while honouring the heritage of the letterpress medium.
The artists in this exhibition represent diverse cultural and geographical perspectives, but they each share a unified vision: to push the boundaries of letterpress and redefine its role in contemporary art and design. Their works challenge the notion of letterpress as an obsolete practice, and showcase its capacity to engage contemporary audiences in fresh and meaningful ways.
Types Relive highlights the versatility and vitality of letterpress printing, and invites us to rethink the heritage practice as a living, evolving art form.
